ATTORNEY PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Build Your Practice. Build Your Future.

The Attorney Practice Development Programme (APDP) is an initiative of CJ Bezuidenhout Attorneys designed for attorneys who want more from their legal careers than simply finding their next job. It provides a platform from which attorneys can develop their own client base, build a sustainable practice and grow professionally, while benefiting from the infrastructure, systems and support of an established law firm.
What is the APDP?
Starting a legal practice can be daunting. Beyond practising law, an attorney must contend with technology, administration, compliance, trust accounting, business development and the costs associated with establishing and running a firm. For many talented attorneys, these barriers make independent practice difficult to pursue.
The APDP offers another way.
Attorneys participating in the programme practise within the infrastructure of CJ Bezuidenhout Attorneys while progressively developing a practice of their own. Participants have the flexibility to work remotely, manage their own time, develop their own clients and earn from the legal work they perform.
The firm provides the professional and operational environment around them, including mentorship, practice management systems, legal research resources, administrative and financial support, compliance infrastructure, technology, marketing support and access to a network of fellow legal professionals.
The programme is built around three principles

Launch

Support

Succeed
The objective is not simply to provide attorneys with somewhere to work. It is to give them an environment in which they can learn how to build and sustain a legal practice.
Is the APDP for You?
The APDP is intended for admitted attorneys who have an entrepreneurial outlook and want to take greater ownership of their professional future. It may particularly appeal to attorneys who want to establish a practice but do not yet have the resources, infrastructure or support to do so independently.
It is important, however, to understand what the programme is not.
The APDP is not traditional employment with a guaranteed salary, fixed working hours and a continuous allocation of work from the firm. Participants are expected to take responsibility for developing their practice, building professional relationships and generating work.
In return, they have an opportunity to build something that is increasingly their own.
